What I Offer

PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT AND THERAPY

Are fear and anxiety getting in the way of you doing what you want to do?

Are you struggling with feelings of sadness and lacking motivation to complete even small tasks?

Do you constantly put yourself down and question your abilities or worth?

Are you feeling frustrated by how much your physical health condition is getting in the way of your day to day life?

Is chronic pain leaving you feeling down and making it difficult to imagine a better future for yourself?

If your answer is yes to any of these questions then please read on to find out how I may be able to help you.

I provide psychological assessment and therapy in Buckinghamshire for individuals with a wide range of presenting difficulties including (but not limited to) social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, health anxiety, panic disorder, low self-esteem, depression, adjustment difficulties, chronic health conditions, and loss/bereavement.

Psychological assessments take place over video or telephone.  Therapy sessions take place over video, telephone or in person outdoors in nature.  Evidence suggests that therapy conducted outdoors enables clients to express themselves more freely and creates a closer connection between client, therapist and the natural world.  I think this quote from Lady Whistledown of the T.V. series 'Bridgerton' sums it up best: "There's nothing like an excursion into nature to lift the spirits and loosen the tongue".

Unfortunately I have temporarily stopped providing outdoor therapy sessions until the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted. I currently run my practice on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Therapies I offer:

Initial, no obligation short telephone call (approx. 15 minutes)

If you would like an initial no-obligation telephone call I will call at a time that is suitable for you. We can have a brief chat about what challenges you are facing and what support may help you bring about the changes you wish to make.

Psychological assessment

The initial psychological assessment is always conducted over video or telephone. It enables us to establish a joint understanding of the problem(s), how they have developed, what is maintaining them in the here and now and how they are getting in the way of how you want your life to be.  We will also talk about you and your life more generally.  We will discuss and agree what approach may be most appropriate for you to meet the goals you have identified for therapy and how many sessions may be needed so you can make an informed decision about how to proceed.

Psychological therapy

Psychological therapy sessions usually last 50 minutes and take place at the same time and day to offer consistency and so you can rely on that time being protected for you. Therapy sessions combine the expertise you bring from your life and experiences and my knowledge of psychological theory to help you understand them and how they are impacting on your life now. Sessions are active and collaborative enabling us to work together to help you identify and practice implementing tools to overcome your life challenges. To maximise the benefits of therapy we will identify ways that you can apply the learning into your daily life in between our sessions through the use of different psychological exercises.

Fees

  • Initial, no obligation short telephone call (approx. 15 minutes) - free of charge

  • Psychological therapy sessions - self-funded (50 minutes) - £105

  • Psychological assessment -self-funded (up to 120 minutes) - £160

My fees cover the cost of professional indemnity insurance, my own professional clinical supervision, my preparation time and the consultation.

Payment of Fees (self-funding clients):

Payment is to be made using bank transfer of an equivalent price in UK pounds within 24 hours of arranging your session to secure your appointment with me. This avoids us having to use any of our therapy session time to do this.

Payment through medical insurance:

In addition to working with self-funded clients I am a registered provider with AXA, VitalityHealth, Cigna, Aviva, Aetna and WPA.  Please contact me if yours isn't listed here as some insurance companies do not register a provider until they are working with a client who has an insurance policy with them. Please note, if you are paying for sessions through an insurance company the fee may vary so please liaise directly with your provider for details.

Reports:

If you require any written reports these will incur an additional fee which will be dependent on the length of time the report takes to complete (my hourly therapy session rate of £105 will be charged). The fee will be discussed and agreed with you in advance. Reports are most valid when completed immediately following my input.

WORKSHOPS

I am currently developing a number of workshops independently and in collaboration with other mental and physical health professionals.  These will include a chronic pain management workshop, an emotional-wellbeing workshop and a group specifically for older teenagers.  Please get in touch if you would like to be on the mailing list for these workshops: isabelle@thrivepsychologybucks.com
